Should I Consider Getting Dentures?

Eventually, people need to consider replacing missing teeth, whether it is due to natural wear and tear or cavities and other dental problems. Choosing the ideal one may be influenced by the client’s spending plan, lifestyle, or personal preferences. Nonetheless, if you are lacking the majority of your natural teeth and want an economical way to restore your appearance, dentures may be the solution. Most dentures are custom-made to fit over your gums and are constructed from a metal and acrylic frame. Depending on the number of teeth available for replacement, patients can be fitted with partial or complete dentures.

The Benefits Of Dentures

Cost-Effective

Most dental insurance policies cover at least a part, if not all, of the treatment cost.

Easy to Remove

Dentures are easy to remove and can be taken away at any time for eating, drinking or even sleeping.

Hassle-Free

You will find them no different than conventional teeth since all that would be required of you is to brush them and immerse them in a special solution before sleep.

The Denture Treatment Process

Now that you have completed the screening process, Dr. Shah will set up a treatment plan that works for you. As a next step, our staff will get digital scans or mouldings of your jaw to make a prosthesis. During the time waiting for final dentures, temporary dentures may be issued to cover the area where the gums are treated.
In some instances, extractions may be required to create a space for your new dentures. In the first stage, Dr. Shah will numb the mouth area, in addition to various forms of sedation that will increase the comfort level during the procedure. Rest for 24 hours and gentle healing will be the critical tasks after the extraction is completed. We will offer comprehensive guidance to ensure you stay comfortable and free from pain during your recovery.
Once your dentures have been made, you will come back to the clinic for the fitting. Adjustments can be performed so that the dentures fit properly and serve their purpose adequately. In addition, make sure to come back to the clinic every year to examine the condition of the dentures. If properly maintained, a set of dentures can be used for about ten years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I suited for the dentures?
If you are considering dentures for the gaps in your teeth, the first step is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Shah. They will check the condition of your mouth and assess the overall health of your oral cavity, jaw and gum to see if dentures will be suitable for you. If any other restorative options can work for your smile, we will assist you in exploring those options as well.
How are dentures made?
Metal and acrylic are required for the denture base. In a highly respected dental laboratory, these removable prostheses will be prepared. To start, your practitioner will take an impression or cast of your dental arches and send it to the laboratory to fabricate a model of the dental arches in acrylic based on the impressions or scans. After receiving your dentures, we will fit them in your mouth and adjust them for proper retention and comfort.
How frequently do dentures need to be replaced?
Usually, dentures are replaced every seven to ten years. Since your mouth is ever-changing, dentures need to be modified to ensure proper fit. We suggest annual visits so that you can better maintain your dentures and save money in the long run while also being able to show off your fantastic smile.
Are dentures easy to wear?
It is common for some patients to feel some discomfort during the initial adjustment phase. At our Clinic, we make sure that the dentures fit your gums perfectly so that there will be no slippage or rubbing while wearing them. In addition, proper care for your dentures, such as avoiding bending and keeping them from cracking, will help reduce discomfort.
What are dentures like?
Thanks to modern high-definition scans and pictures, your dentist will formulate custom denture sets that are tailored to look just like your original smile. All dentures are cast and sculpted to offer a nearly perfect fit against the jaw and gum line, which makes them secure and easy to wear.
