Why should I get Root Canal Treatment?

Root Canal Therapy is referred to as the dental operation that is carried out in order to treat an infection present in the core part of the tooth, which is the pulp. This treatment becomes unavoidable if the tooth pulp is diagnosed with inflammation or has been infected due to decay, repeated dental interventions, or even a crack in the tooth. To put it simply, root canals are helpful as they reduce suffering by excising the infected components within the tooth and enclosing it. This also helps prevent further infection so patients would not lose their original teeth.

Benefits of a Root Canal Therapy

The Management of
Pain

Root canals significantly cut down on the discomfort related to infected or broken teeth. By eliminating the cause of unease, patients can experience instant and lasting comfort.

Preservation of Natural Teeth

Instead of removing the affected tooth, root canals are done so that the infection is addressed and tooth reconstruction can be done. Preserving your natural teeth will allow you to continue chewing normally and preserving your jawbone.

Efficiency and Cost Effectiveness

Root canal treatment is less expensive than restorative procedures such as implants or bridges. It tackles the issue without requiring more complicated steps.

Root Canal Therapy Process

The first step of the treatment includes Dr Shah conducting x-rays to assess whether there is an infection and, if so, what is the extent of it. Afterward, local anesthesia will be administered into the tissues surrounding the targeted tooth to provide a painless procedure. Once numbed, a protective sheet will be placed around the tooth to keep it dry and free from saliva during treatment.
Dr. Shah will drill a small opening in the crown of a tooth to expose the infected pulp chamber and root canals. She will disinfect the root teeth as well as the diseased pulp will be removed using specialized instruments. After cleaning, the root canals will be shaped for better filling.
Once all canals have been thoroughly cleaned and properly shaped, they will be filled with a biocompatible substance known as gutta-percha. It seals the root teeth against any future bacterial infection. Then, the cavity of a tooth will be sealed with a temporary or permanent filling in order to protect the tooth until further tooth restorative procedures, such as a crown, are conducted.
